Astrodude 3D
This is the 3D platformer I've created for the Coursera course "Game Design and Development 4: 3D Platformer".
There are two levels:
Level 1 ("Mystery Box") is an extension on the level built during the course.
Level 2 ("Crystal Cave") has been built from scratch.
Though I primarily used the provided assets, there are a lot of bigger and smaller changes. To name a few:
- added a ceiling to level 1 and made the ceiling lights functional
- made the window glass transparent and added a simple outdoor environment (terrain + skybox) which you can see through the windows in level 1
- experimented with lights and lighting to give the levels some atmosphere
- created a viewscreen capable of playing videos (video does not work in WebGL)
- created a room with videos projected on the walls (video does not work in WebGL)
- replaced all music
- replaced player death sound by something more obvious
- experimented with rotation
- made the dull purple crystals beautiful by making them green, transparent, emissive, glowing and humming
- filled the entire cave with those mesmerizing crystals, which are the only light source in the cave. Added a lot of rocks and stalactites/mites too.
- made some changes to the main menu scene, added video (video does not work in WebGL)
The levels are not too difficult so you get a chance to look around.
Known issue: the player movement is somewhat jerky; I don't know what the cause is or how to fix it...
